What local restaurants or businesses do you recommend?
I love Thai food. One of my favorites is Bangkok City on Bird Road, right off the Palmetto. Also, I love barbecue and this place used to only be in Orlando, but now they have a location in Coral Springs. It's called Four Rivers Smokehouse. It's great barbecue. It's pretty cheap and it's great.

We're always on the hunt for cheerful, simple, delicious food. We like Root and Bone, we've been there a few times and kids like it. The biscuits are crazy good. On a night when nobody feels like cooking, we'll go to Lime. It's consistently good and everyone is happy.

I still find myself at the Bar at Michael’s Genuine occasionally. When they have it, I like the wood-oven roasted eggplant with tahini. When they have simple vegetable soups at lunch, I really enjoy it too- broth and veggies. Whisk Gourmet when I’m craving a 3-D, satisfying sandwich. Chef Brendan makes the best ones in town. He and his sister Kirsten are really special people, and that makes everything taste even better.

We go to Whisk quite a bit, and Joanna's market. And Cecile, the French bakery in South Miami.

I’m vegan, so I really like Mediterranean foods. I like Daily Bread’s salad bar. In Midtown, the Love Life Café, and in Wynwood – Della Bowls. There’s a lot more vegan food coming out now that is not just salad. As a vegan, people think that’s all we eat.

Seasons 52. They always have stuff I can eat there. And Matsuri for Japanese - I avoid the rice and get sashimi and vegetable soup. They have a great conch that's sautéed with what seems to be green beans or maybe it's cactus.

My favorite is definitely Ghee. We go there a lot. Their green millet is awesome and the sticky date cake. And, of course, Jackson Hall. My old standby is always a green bowl at Della Bowls.

I like a place called Fratelli La Bufala. It's the most authentic Italian food I've found in Miami. I get the pizza napolitana and just a bowl of homemade pasta. If you haven't been, you've got to try it.

For Thai:Bangkok City – everything is good. Especially the fried rice and the peanut sauce. The peanut salad is incredible. Origins on the Key is also great. They have a bunch of different cuisines - Thai, Malaysian, Japanese – but it’s not fusion. They have different dishes from each style. The Malaysian roti is really good. For Tacos: El Toro Taco – we get everything, it’s all well made, and you can’t go wrong. Las Carnitas – the mole is real. You would never pull over and think to eat there. It is a little window with seating on 8th street. You need to be taken there.
